Review: All about Whitening

Dec 17, 2013
Have I shared before that most of my friends think that I do not need any whitening products at all? Yes my skin is relatively fair, I use the lightest shade of foundation/powder from most of the brands usually. So do I really need a whitening product? Absolutely!!

I probably should upload an old photo to convince my readers, about how tan I used to be when I was much younger, due to improper care (basically no sunblock at all). Thanks to a whole range of Elizabeth Arden Whitening products, which turned me in to a fair lady. Too bad I can't review those products as it's been more than 10 years and I guess they don't carry that range anymore. Anyway, you get my idea here, whitening products are essential and they really work!

Especially after having kids, due to hormone changes, my freckles around my cheek get more and more visible so I purchased these 2 products from SKII:
- SKII Whitening Spots Specialist
- SKII Cellumination Essence EX

You can see from the pictures, they are of different texture, and you can roughly tell from their names, the former is meant for freckles and the latter, is to brighten up the overall texture/tone of uneven skin.

Which one do I like better?

I would say it must be the SKII Cellumination Essence EX.

It comes in a much lighter liquid texture, though it looks thicker in this milky color. It's non sticky, and easy to absorb. It has the best scent (even better than the mask-in-lotion, or maybe the same since they are from the same range?) which guarantees a great experience with each application. And you basically can expect immediate radiance on your skin upon one application. That kind of result doesn't last forever, but it slowly improves your skin texture and uneven skin tone. I am pretty sure it's possible to achieve a shade lighter with long term usage of this product, together with a sunblock of course!

As for the SKII Whitening Spots Specialist, I think it works on my pigmentation, but I do not fancy its texture as it's a little too sticky and not easy to absorb. For similar kind of result, I would recommend SKII Whitening Source Derm-Brightener, which comes in a much richer creamy texture, that works really well at night. It leaves a powdery feel on the skin so it's better to use a good hydrating lotion/essence before it. I do not have a real picture because that is a product I used after having my first boy a few years back. I still remember how horrible I looked with my freckles all over my face a few months after my delivery, and this cream, definitely saved me!

And my personal advise to people who might not seem to have the need of a whitening product (just like me), use one please, because prevention is always better than cure!

REVIEW: DHC Collagen Powder 5000mg

Oct 21, 2013
Can you believe I am blogging about collagen again? After my two posts on collagen drinks here, and here, I couldn't even believe I am back to this same topic again!

Yes I admit, I am super hooked with this kind of products, especially after watching the famous Taiwan variety show - 女人我最大. 牛尔老师 has mentioned this for many many times, that any skin care products with collagen, will not help much unless it's a supplement kind that we can take in.

So I have ordered 2 packs of Milcolla Collagen powder from Qoo10, but being the vain pot, before my loots arrives, I got my hands on 2 packs of DHC Collagen Powders as there's a promotion last week at Watson's, buy 2 packs at SGD$87+, and each pack can last for 32 days!

I have high expectation on this product since my experience with their collagen drinks is extremely good. The packaging is what I love most about the product, easy to open, easy to scoop out, easy to close and store, as compare to the famous MEJI collagen powder which comes in a a tin (yup looks exactly like a formula milk tin to me, which I've had enough with after having 2 boys on formula milk over the past few years).

Now what I hate most about this product, is definitely, the fishy smell!!! I can only gulp it down when I add it into my daily cup of Americano coffee. I've heard MEJI's collagen powder has this bad fishy smell too! I would never want to take it if not because of the remarkable result seen in just a few days time. And another problem I observed, is that it seems I get bad sore throat whenever I am taking collagen, or maybe it's just DHC brand since I got the same problem with their collagen drinks.

But, the good thing is, my skin looks firmer and more radiant after taking one scoop a day for just a few days. It's funny that every time I start on collagen products, I feel that I can survive with cheap skincare products! Guess it's not a bad thing after all considering that SKII is getting more and more expensive nowadays. I would pick DHC's collagen drinks over this at any time because of the smell, but since 牛尔老师 advocates for taking collagen powder daily to maintain a nice complexion, I would definitely buy this product again, especially when there's promotion going on. For now, I will wait for my Milcolla Collagen powder to arrive and do a comparison of these two.

Review: Senka Pure UV SPF27

Let me introduce, a great daily sunblock which I have been using recently, which ultimately replaced my expensive (but definitely great) SKII Facial Treatment UV Protection!!

You know the SKII sunblock is my Holy Grail product and I've never thought about switching to another brand, especially another MUCH cheaper brand. As my previous experience highlighted in my post about SKII sunblock, was that those brands might be effective but cause clogged pore easily, for my skin. I chanced upon this SENKA PURE UV SPF27 while shopping for other stuff at Watson's. What attracted me was that this brand is under SHISEIDO, and some of my friends were raving about SHISEIDO sunblock which costs about half the price of SKII sunblock. Hence I was just curious to find out how good this product is, and, I was impressed, truly impressed.

For SGD$16.90 ONLY, you get a bottle of 80ml of cream, which easily lasts more than 3 months. The price itself is already a great reason for me to give this a try.

The texture is like watery+creamy, and it is pretty light, not as light as SKII, but good enough to be absorbed in seconds.  And the greatest part is, it does not have the sticky/greasy feeling on my skin, and after using it for about 2 months, I do not experience any clogged pores, and my skin does not feel dull at all. It has a bit of "color correction" effect, that helps to achieve an even skin tone although it does not provide any coverage at all. I've tested their UV gel with SPF50 at the same time and found it too thick and greasy, so SPF27 has the perfect texture and is good enough for daily usage considering I stay indoor at office most of the time.

Since my favorite SKII Facial Treatment US Protection costs almost 7 times more expensive than this, I've decided to stick with the SENKA PURE UV SPF27 for now, well indeed I have to since 80ml packaging is way too big a bottle for me!

Best scrub ever

Sep 18, 2013
I am a person who hates deep cleansing mask. I've been searching high and low, up and down for a gentle, yet effective deep cleansing mask. Those popular ones like Origins, IPSA, KOSE, and not so popular ones like LANCOME, CHRISTIAN DIOR, CHANEL, CLARINS, SISLEY, ESTEE LAUDER, etc.. I've tried them all but none of them really surprises me..

I dump aside all my clay masks after I bought this set of IZU crystal scrub & activator few months back. Actually I still have quite a number of scrubs at home. But girls are always like that, we will keep buying and will never have enough of these things. It works as a scrub + deep cleansing mask for me. I love this product although it comes with just a small tub of scrub and a small bottle of activitor, really small for the price of S$78. But good things usually comes in small packages right.. haha..

The scrub in yellow has very fine grain and smells like orange. Take a small amount and apply evenly onto your face, avoid eyes and lip area, massage for 1 minute, then take a few drops of activitor to emulsify the scrub, the activitor turns to blue from green once it exposes to air. I am not a chemical student so I have no idea about the rationale behind, but it is fun to observe it happening, haha. Then you can feel that the scrub heats up itself to help open the pores.. just massage for another 2 minutes and rinse off with warm water..

The result? Brilliant!!!

It really unclogs the pores and lifts aways those yucky stuff in there. Half of my white heads disappeared and another half just came out automatically, so I could squeeze them out or wipe them off very easily. Left my skin supple, smooth and radiant. Imagine the skin on nose area is as crystal clear as cheek area. All other skin care products you apply after that will be absorbed easily and rapidly. Makeup seems to last longer also. By the way, Winson loves it too, haha..

Now I can live on this scrub without any deep cleansing mask at all. It is definitely my Holy Grail product and I will use it first thing in the morning on my wedding day!

Review: LANCOME Visionnaire Adv Skin Corrector

LACOME, is the one, and probably only one European brand I am still using after switching to SKII for more than 10 years. I started getting skin care products from departmental stores when I was about 21, from Elizabeth Arden, Clinique, Lacome, Estee Lauder, Chanel, Biotherm, Helena Rubinstein, Clarins, Christian Dior, I came to a conclusion that European brands are mostly too rich for my skin, hence I moved on to explore other Japanese brands like SKII, Cle de Peau Beaute, and Cosme Decorte, since then, there's no turning back as I simply love how Japanese brands suit Asian skins. But Lancome, is the brand that completely changed my skin tone and texture when I was depressed over a tanned, rough skin back then, so I am always willing to give their new products a try.

I requested for some samples of their Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector from the link here:
and started my experiment with this serum since last week.

Look at how much serum I squeezed out from the sample sachet?!!! I couldn't believe it because it's clearly indicated that the sample is 1ml but I feel that it could definitely last me for 2 applications, day and night.

Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector is a light weight serum that spreads easily on the skin. And it has a slightly thicker texture as compared to many other serums, so I used it as a serum, and a moisturizer without the need to top up with another layer of cream moisturizer. It has a very mild floral scent which is soothing enough. My skin gets brightened up immediately when I apply it on. It takes a little while before it gets fully absorbed. And it leaves this radiant and dewy look on my skin without a trace of unpleasant stickiness or greasiness. It's super easy to apply my make up after that, though I am not sure if it's because I am using their new Teint Visionnaire liquid foundation. I can't stop touching my skin again and again throughout the day because it just feels so supple and firm.

Of course just like any other skin care product, it usually takes about 28 days before we can see clear visible result. I can't comment much about its effect on my pores, they are still visible enough, but I do see my fine lines diminished and that's the very reason why I feel like getting the full size product so I could continue using it since I am running out of samples by now.

Review: Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment w Avocado

Aug 20, 2013
When people ask me what are my "must have" skincare products, for someone who doesn't appreciate expensive skincare products and find taking care of skin a hassle, my answer is always - sunscreen and eye cream.

Skin around our eye area is thinnest and most delicate so I won't suggest a normal facial cream to be used only for eyes. For people with dark eye circles, unfortunately, I think a lot of times, it's inherited and make-up or special treatment might help, but eye cream? I doubt so.

To me, an eye cream is essential and it does help with fine lines, pigmentation, dryness problems around the eyes. But always remember sunlight is the main cause of wrinkles so do apply sunblock around your eyes too! Prevention is always better than cure.

Anyway back to this Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, it's quite a famous product and after finishing my first bottle, here are some of my findings:
- the texture is quite thick, but it seems to stay on the surface of the skin upon application, it does not absorb immedately
- it hydrates my skin well enough, though at my age, hydration is not enough, what I really need is anti-aging, so I would say this is a product for younger skin around age 25 - 30
- for someone like me with an eye cream infatuation, it's pretty amazing that I've finished one entire bottle of this and that might have explained why this is one of the popular eye cream in the market, though I seriously have no clue why, because it really does nothing much on my eyes, but then, if I do not use it, maybe things will get worse even?

Will I repurchase this again? Nope, not at all, I am pretty sure I've used something nicer from Estee Lauder or Chanel, though my plan next is to trv Skin Signature Eye Cream from SKII, stay tuned for my review on that!

Review: KOSE Sekkisei Lotion

Jul 9, 2013
If I have to change my SKII Facial Treatment Essence to another product, this would probably be it, KOSE Sekkisei Lotion which has been adored by many!

Some people claim that this toner/lotion contains alcohol, hence it's not suitable for all skin types. I always find my skin a little sensitive but I have no problem using this at all. And although it's not a daily toner for me, I always place a bottle on my vanity table because, I believe this is the best remedy for my sun tanned skin all the time! It has this cooling, as well as whitening effect, and usually my skin gets recovered pretty fast as long as I apply it on immediately after sun tan/sun burn.
My favorite way of using this lotion, is to soak a few pieces of cotton pads in it, and lay them on my face as if I am wearing a sheet mask. Trust me, it's way more effective to use cotton pads than using those "pill masks" (from random brands sold at SASA, or even by KOSE which is usually thinner and in better quality). It helps to hydrate my skin and brighten it up with more even skin tone. And my skin feels smoother and moisturized. Makeup stays longer after I do my "cotton pads mask" with this lotion.

What I am not so fond of it though, is that this lotion does not seem to penetrate deep enough into my skin, I feel rather refreshed, than rejuvenated and replenished.. okay I know that doesn't sound.. clear enough? But it's more like, I don't have the "high class", "luxurious" feeling while using this, you know what I mean right? LOL...

Review: My Beauty Diary Mask (Black Pearl)

Jun 17, 2013
When was the last time I did a facial mask? At least 2 and half months ago I bet. I simply have no time for such luxury because night time means bed time routine for kids to me. And last night, I finally had some courage to take out a random piece of mask from my huge skincare products collection. I said "random", yes it's really random because I do not even know how many sheet masks I have, and what are the brands, I just dug out any one piece which my hand could reach inside the drawer and it happened to be this MY BEAUTY DIARY mask - Black Pearl.

Nowadays I seldom use clay, gel or cream mask, unless I can sleep through the night with the mask on. Sheet mask is extremely easy to use, so I just put it on and went for a quick nap of about 20 minutes, removed it and continued sleeping till the next morning. The mask has a mild scent, and I did not use any extra liquid left over since it's pretty economical to get this brand of mask in Singapore. By the way, if you have a habit to sleep with a mask on, do note that it's indeed not good for your skin, even if it's a sheet mask that does not require you to wash off, remove it after 15-20 minutes and let your skin breathe normally.

So how good/bad is this mask? In fact I really don't have much to comment. It's extremely relaxing and hydrating to use it. The smell is definitely better than my favorite SKII Facial Treatment Mask. Effect wise, I didn't check my face at night but in the morning, my skin is amazingly soft, moist and radiant. And it feel so refreshing and clean although I didn't do any deep cleansing. I only checked and found out that this mask is meant for whitening and that explains why I felt my skin tone is so even!

Just a side note, I would not want to compare this with SKII Facial Treatment Mask since the price difference is really huge. But, if you ask me how good is this compared to other common brands like Neutrogena, Olay, The Face Shop, Missha, etc, I think this mask is really worth every penny.

I would strongly recommend this mask if you are the type like Barbie Hsu (大S)who likes to put on one piece of mask everyday. Do not expect to see miracle as the effect does not last for too long, and it will not do any dramatic change to your skin but it's definitely a cool idea to nap with one piece for ultimate relaxation!

my two cents about "Gelish" manicure/pedicure

May 29, 2013
I am not really a big fan of manicure/pedicure but I do have a few packages signed up with saloons, which I use for pedicure service once very 1.5-2 months. Manicure is definitely not for a working mummy like me, who needs to work on my keyboard for at least 8 hours a day, look after young baby and cook meals often. When I found out the wonder of "Gelish", or is that "Shellac" you call it? I felt that I really need to have my finger nails fixed every month with the beautiful Gel colors. It dries instantly, seldom chips and lasts for a good 1.5-2 months!

Till recently, I was told by my regular manicurist that the previous session I did with another salon (cheaper one though), was not well done because they used some sort of cheaper gel, so it's not easy to remove. It took her quite a bit of effort to remove for me and I started to wonder, is it really true that good gel will not harm my nails?

So to test it out, I completed my last Gelish session with my regular manicurist at this more expensive, and more reputable salon, got it removed a month later, and started monitoring the impact of Gelish on my nails, for about 2 months till now.

Oh boy, my nails were extremely dry, thin, brittle and they started to crack and split without the "protection layer" of gelish on top. How bad was the situation? Basically I got cracked nails almost every few days! And my nails cracked for more than 10 times in a span of 2 weeks, of course I must attribute that to heavy duties during my house move in that 2 weeks. And the same finger nail can crack 3 times in a week, basically I have no chance to witness it really grow before it cracks. In any case, I hate my nails, totally!

I have to cut my nails really short but still, my pinky nail just cracked from inside, without me noticing it =(.. OUCH...

I know many girls love Gelish to bits, I did initially, and I do apply good bottom/top coat to strengthen my nails every single time! Still, I prefer the natural look of my healthy, strong nails the way they are, and couldn't wait for them to grow out soon!

August 15, 2014
After a year, my healthy nails are finally back!!

Review: SKII Facial Treatment UV Protection

May 16, 2013
If you have a budget limit and you can pick ONE AND ONLY ONE skincare product to buy, what will be your choice?
If you have no budget limit and you can pick ANY ONE BUT ONLY ONE skincare product to buy, what will be your choice?

My answer is the same: SKII Facial Treatment UV Protection (SPF25) PA++

I am sure you are not surprised that I've picked SKII, but, why not the famous Facial Treatment Essence? Why not the newly invented Stempower cream? Why not the all time life saver Facial Treatment Mask?

Because, this is really the BEST EVER skincare product I HAVE TO USE on a daily basis!

My mother-in-law who is at the age of 62, has pretty nice complexion for her age, and I attribute that to her habit of carrying umbrella everywhere she goes, at all times. So if you are not actively applying skincare products to prevent aging skin, at least, get a sunscreen as continued exposure to sun is the cause of wrinkling, premature aging, and in time, an almost leathery appearance of the skin.

There are so many sunscreen products in the market, how to pick the right one for daily usage? Usa a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day. For extended outdoor activity, use a water-resistant, broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. And remember, reapply often for maximal protection!

I got hooked on SKII Facial Treatment UV Protection and finished countless bottles of it (the previous version in red bottle). I must say this new formula in silver bottle is even lighter and more hydrating! In fact I love it so much that I've stopped using most of my skincare products during the day and just apply this cream directly after washing my face. It doubles up as a great moisturizer. I feel 100% protected without the need of a tedious toner-moisturizer-sunblock routine on my lazy days. And it's the only sunscreen I've used so far that I can claim as "not greasy at all!". It is fragrance-free but has a very soothing scent that I really love a lot. It's not a big bottle but it lasted me for more than half a year with daily usage (okay I admit, I didn't reapply it).

In fact, there were a period of time I decided to go with some cheaper sunscreen products, and in fact they are pretty effective as I've never experienced any redness/tan/burnt on my skin. But, there's one big problem with such products - clogged pores! At least that's what happened to me, I felt like wearing a thick layer of shield and at the end of the day, my skin looked dull and dehydrated with enlarged pores. So yes, I only want SKII Facial Treatment UV Protection cream now, and I want more!

Review: Suisse Programme 24 hour lip guard

I do not have a habit of using lipsticks. I own no more than 5 of them, but I use lip balm almost daily. By the way if I have never shared this before, I must introduce this website here to those who can read Chinese:

Okay 10 - 15 years ago, when there were not much information shared about skincare on internet, I often visit departmental stores and seek advice from beauty advisers on what to buy. Now, it's a routine for me to check on reviews online and shortlist a few brands whenever I want to buy a new product.

The above mentioned website is filled with useful reviews and it has a ranking list based on review ratings which is pretty useful to me. So here you go, a list of most popular lip care products (rated by mainly Taiwan users though) here:

I've tried a few of them on this first page, popular ones like DHC, Kiehl's and Mentholatum are "must try items" on my personal list. But I am not impressed with any of them, and my favorite lip care product - Suisse Programme 24 hour lip guard is not even mentioned here. So you see, we do have to take whatever reviews we read with a pinch of salt (yes that includes mine, LOL), one man's meat is another man's poison!

Anyway so what's so good about this lip guard? You will never want to settle with a 5 dollar random lip balm if you ever tried this! Yes I am serious, those random lip balms I got in the past, feels like a layer of wax. But this one, is really moisturizing, light-weighted, lasting (okay not as long as 24 hours but for a good 2-3 hours). It's not oily or greasy and most importantly, it really softens my lips, that's a benefit that most other lip balms do not deliver, they basically just make your lips "not dry" and that's about it. Grab one at SASA especially during promotion period and enjoy it!

Review: VPL Hair Removal Treatment

Apr 10, 2013
This is a topic I wanted to share since months ago, because I did quite a bit of research on VPL hair removal treatment review, but could not find sufficient information online.

So first of all, what is VPL and how it works?
"Variable Pulsed Light (VPL™) is the next generation in effective hair removal and skin rejuvenation technology. Traditionally, most cosmetic procedures have been associated with lasers. As technology has progressed, research has shown that pulsed light, and in particular Variable Pulsed Light (VPL™), are regularly producing better results than the laser units originally available. "

"At any stage your hairs will be in one of three phases: growth, dormant or dead. VPL works by delivering short light pulses to the treatment area. This heats the hair follicles to about 70 degrees while leaving the surrounding skin below 45 degrees. Heating the hair follicles kills the hairs, which will then fall out naturally over the next week or so. However, the hair can only be killed in the growth phase. Because not every hair will be in the same phase at the same time, a course of treatments is required in order to catch every hair follicle in its growth phase."

So here's my own experience with it. I tried out my first, and probably the last also Brazilian wax session at a beauty salon near my office and though I was told how painful waxing can get, I found the pain pretty bearable. The result is just one word, clean! But the regrowth is fast and pricky so I was advised by the beautician to try out VPL hair removal instead, with a hope that after a course of 6-10 treatments, my hair will disappear, forever.

I signed up a package worth SGD3000 with them which is valid for a year for any kind of treatment at their salon. The VPL for bikini area costs about S$380 per session but with this package, it's S$245 only. I couldn't remember how many sessions I've done, probably 6-8 times? In fact for my skin/hair type, I require less treatment. Basically my skin is rather fair, hair is lighter and less and most importantly, my tolerance level is high when comes to pain so the beautician can adjust the pulsed light till extremely high and intense, so that it works more efficiently to remove the hair. Did my hair disappear permanently? No.

A few facts to share here:
- The result is way better than waxing because your skin is silky smooth after VPL, pores are supposed to get smaller so maybe that's why.
- The regrowth is pretty slow, and regrowth hair is fine and soft, although it depends on individuals, for bikini area, after a course of 6-8 sessions, it takes about 1-2 months only to see quite a bit of hair, which is enough for you to feel like going back for another session. Honestly that is faster than I expected.
- For armpit hair removal, it's way more effective and after 3-4 sessions, you do not see much hair anymore, it's almost like completely gone. My hair did grow back after like 3 months+ but it's almost invisible.
- I've tried VPL on my legs for 2 sessions, but decided to give up as it's not cheap and the regrowth is faster than armpit area. Shaving might be the most economical option for legs.
- Who said the biggest advantage of VPL is that it's not painful? I've never tried IPL so maybe IPL is not painful but for VPL, I am a mother who went through 2 natural birth without epidural, if I say VPL is painful, trust me, it is!! Just that each session takes around 10-15 minutes the max so it's not that bad after all.
- It's super high maintenance! Imagine the S$3000 package can last me for about 12 sessions on bikini area, and to keep that silky smooth skin, I probably have to go back at least every 2-3 months, that's definitely a lot of $$
- I've tried VPL facial for both my face and neck skin, as my biggest concern is my visible necklines and uneven skin tone, the result? I would recommend you to stick to DHL collagen and use VPL for hair removal purpose only!

Anyway with all these said, I can tell you VPL is probably the most effective hair removal solution in the market for now, and if I do have the budget to maintain, I would definitely want to go back for it!!

Review: DHC Collegan drink 7000mg

Mar 25, 2013
Recently, I notice that the girl in my team who started using SKII in Dec last year, has a drastic change in her skin texture, her skin looks so much more radiant, her pores are less obvious, her skin tone is more even, and most importantly, her Tzone is not as oily as before!

So I gave her my compliment about her beautiful skin and being a loyal SKII supporter, I told her how amazing SKII products are working on her skin. Guess what she told me? "Yes I think their products are great, but I also just started collagen drinks these few days and maybe that helps too??"

You can't imagine how shocked I was at that moment, She's talking about collagen drinks, which seems to show effect in just, a few days?!!

"Are you taking DHC collagen?"
"Yes yes that's the brand!!!"

I was even more shocked this time. I blogged about both FANCL and DHC collagen before, so I definitely know how effective that product is. I went ahead to Watsons, and being lucky enough, they were having the "buy 3 get 1 free" promotion, so I got a total of 4 boxes of DHC collagen for SGD$149.85. Currently they are having another promotion, buy 2 boxes at SGD$74.8 which is probably the best promotion I've seen so far.

So I've finished 10 bottles of my DHC collagen and believe it or not, I can feel the difference after the 2nd bottle just like when I tried it 2 years ago. The kind of radiance it brings onto my face, is something that no skincare products, facial or even laser therapy could help me achieve within days. I've decided to drink 1 bottle every 3 days from now till I finish the next 3 boxes, stop for a while and see how, as I believe this kind of product is effective, only if you care to maintain. It's definitely affordable since I do not spend any money on facial. For girls, the levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone in our blood rise and fall, in accordance with our menstrual cycle. Most likely our skin is in the worst condition before menstruation. And so far DHC collagen is the best product that makes my skin looks acceptable during the worse period so if  you do have something big coming up, like a wedding ceremony, a family photoshooting session, etc, this might be the fastest solution you can count on to!!

Review: Garnier Pure Active Spot-On Treatment

Feb 25, 2013
I used to have a few similar products from other brands such as Shiseido, Clarins, Artistry (under Amway), Bobbi Brown and Clinique, but nowadays I am sticking to this Garnier Pure Active Spot-On Treatment for my pimples.

Okay I do not have acne skin, if you do, try to source for other solutions please as I do not believe this product will work. It's more for small pimples with pus and mild hormonal acne. For me, I do have a few pimples around my nose and chin area which only pop up around that time of the month. But sometimes such pimples can become painful cyst that's swelling like mad. The best part of this roll on treatment, is that it is not too harsh and doesn't create strong burning sensation like other similar products. In fact it has a very nice scent instead of the usual alcoholic smell from other similar products.  It dries out the pimples fast enough, usually within a few hours, and I love it for purging out the whiteheads/pus underneath the skin, without making my skin bleeding. And it's so far the best solution to soothe the pain whenever I have huge inflamed pimples.

I have 2 of them, one at home and one in office, it has became my life saver. But of course if I want a pimple-free skin even during that time of the month, DHC Collagen is still the best solution because during the time I was drinking that, I just had no pimples at all!

Review: Koji Linequeen 1 Day Long Eyeliner Coat

Feb 15, 2013
I was a little surprised to spot this product on the shelf, I guess only Japanese could come out with such an invention. I only knew there's coat for mascara, but now, there's even a coat for eyeliner, sounds amazing right? Especially for people like me, who simply cannot wear eyeliner due to extremely oily eyelid, this looks like a perfect remedy.

It's a gel type product, and it does smell a bit like a gel/glue. I just need to apply a thin layer on top of my liquid eyeliner, which in this case I used KISS ME HEROINE Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner since I just bought it not long ago and was pretty disappointed with the result after using it. So this eyeliner coat is supposed to seal and protect the eyeliner without getting smudge.
The coat is extremely easy to apply, but you just need to be a little careful and not to hurt your eyes with the brush, as the product might leave a tingling sensation if it gets into your eyes. Try to keep your eyes closed for 10-15 seconds till the gel gets fully dried up, tada, you get perfect liners on your eyelids that does not smudge at all, and I fell in love the smooth lines and clean look that lasts throughout the day immediately.

Yes this is definitely a savior and now my liquid eyeliners need not to be dumped away. But I did tested it with different types of eyeliners, it definitely doesn't work that well with pencil eyeliners.
