REVIEW: SKII Stempower Cream

Dec 6, 2012
I was pretty upset initially when I heard that the SKII Skin Signature cream is going to be discontinued, and SKII will replace that with the newly launched SKII Stempower. Because the Skin Signature cream is a moisturizer I have been diligently using for the past 10 years+ and I love the wonders it did on my skin for sure.

I was given a few samples of Stempower by a very sweet beauty consultant at their Tampines counter, and used it in the morning after my SKII Facial Treatment Essense but I did not really notice how good this product is.

Till recently, I've learned that this Stempower cream is able to improve radical firmness in 10 days, I was like, you kidding me? 10 days? I can never believe in that.

So, I went ahead to purchase the full size product during their tea party after I finished the last jar of my Skin Signature cream, and this time, I decided to use the Stempower both day and night, then take photos of  my face for comparison purpose. A picture really speaks a thousand words.

Day One:
I found the texture of the cream extremely good, it's lightweight, it's smooth, it's moisturizing but it's not greasy at all. I really have problem dealing with most of moisturizers, either too rich and thick to be absorbed although it provides better anti-aging result, or too light that basically does not do much to my skin. But this Stempower cream, I have to say it's a lot of times better than my favorite Signs Signature cream, at least in terms of texture.

Day Seven:
Look at the lines on my face. They are a lot less obvious as compared to day one. And in fact it's my PMS period where my skin is in worst condition but still, you can see how much improvement in terms of reducing the appearance of lines.

Day Ten:
I feel that my skin looks slightly brighter and firmer.I do not feel my cheeks getting super dehydrated in air-conditioned room with just Stempower on my face. And it all happened in just 10 days, isn't that amazing?!!!

Here's a guide on how to apply this product with a special massage technique:

Thanks for the review! I found your blog through your review of the SK II Sheet Mask (which I purchased on a whim just now while on an airplane). Anyway I have been thinking about trying SK II for ages but this post really intrigues me. Especially the 10 day test pictures. WOW!

Thank you Serena, and yes unless I take photo of my skin daily, the result is less obvious in fact but for sure I can feel the change in skin texture. And if you are located in Singapore, feel free to leave your address (i will not publish it) and i can post the sample of Stempower for you to try out ^_^, of course you can also ask for it at their counters.. SKII is really a brand either you love it or hate it I guess, hope it suits your skin well!

Mummy Chan, I like your review.
i went to SK II Counter last week in Jakarta but unfortunately the consultant cannot give me a sample of Stempower. actually i want to buy the small one (15g) but they cannot sell it for me.
i wish i'm in Singapore so i can get the sample from you :)

Thanks so much for your support! Well yes that's a bit unfortunate that you don't get the sample from their sales there. If you happen to visit Singapore since we are so near, I can definitely get some sample for you, though the one I got is really sample size like 5g? haha..

can we use stempower sk II in age 20+ ??

I would say yes you can, I started using SKII when I was around 22, and to me it's not really about the age of a person but rather the skin age/condition of the person that determines the skincare used.

I could be as young as 22 but with skin problems which make my skin looks like 32. So if you do feel that you have skin concerns which Stempower might help, then try it. But if you have very healthy looking skin at such a young age, then cleanse thoroughly at night, and try to wash with water and apply a good sunblock in the morning, that is good enough.

I do have a feeling that basic skincare products we can find off the shelf, are not effective on my skin anymore, it could be due to aging, or, some might think it's because I started using high-end brands too early, I don't know which is true though but just to share in case you have concerns about that..

Can you use SK-II stempower without applying the facial treatment essence coz i only bought the stempower and not the essence. thanks!

Mummy Chan said...

of course you can! There's no real rules around this I feel. And sometimes when I am in a rush, I just apply stem power after washing my face, and you can use other types of toners you have at home if you do not have the essence. Usually they will tell you it's best to use the products from their same brand/range for better result, but in any case it's still a great product that works effectively on its own!

Sometimes I have one or two breakouts on my face. Can I use stempower? I've been using the facial essence and I have no problem with it.

Mummy Chan said...

should be no problem at all, it's a very light and gentle cream indeed, since you are using the essence and it's working fine, I think Stempower should work great too!

Hi...just discovered ur web. Great help.
I hv large pores n little lines prob. Which one wld b better product, stempower essence or cream? Thank you

Mummy Chan said...

Hi Enery Jesy Susanto, thank you for your comment. Well I am sure it is better to use both at the same time! I have not tried the essence myself so it's hard to advise here, but I know it's meant for large pores so it might be a good product worth trying. As for the cream, I think it targets the overall skin textures, helps a little with fine lines for sure. But in general, I feel it is very hard to minimize pores, many products claim to do that but I've yet to see any effective one, so I probably will choose the cream if I can only pick one out of the two, at least it brings radiance on my face and improves my overall skin condition.

Hi Mummy Chan..im very interested on this stempower cream .. but i wonder if we hv to use it altogether with the treatment essence to get the visible result or that we may use it independently..thank you ^^

Mummy Chan said...

Hi Cika, you do not necessarily need the facial treatment essence. At least I wasn't using this stempower cream together with my essence at that time. But of course you will probably see even better result when you combine the two. If you've never used SKII products before, then you might want to start with this cream first, if you like it, add on the essence later.

Hi Mummy Chan,

Do you know whether the Stempower Rich can be used for age 35 or not?

Hi Mummy Chan,

Do you know whether Stempower Rich can be used for age of 35++?

Mummy Chan said...

Yes the stempower rich can be used for sure, just that depends on weather, in Singapore, it is better to use it at night only..
